Perennials
Double Blue Balloon Flower
Widely popular among gardeners, platycodon grandiflora is a compact herbaceous perennial with bell-shaped, flaring, violet-blue flowers, up to 2-3" across. Resembling bellflowers, they open from large, plump, balloon-like buds which almost beg to be popped. Blooming throughout the summer, the upward facing blossoms are held singly or in small clusters atop upright, branched, leaf stems. It is a reliable bloomer over a long season that adds a slight pop of color in to a summer garden.
