Colorado blue spruce are sought after trees due in part because of their blue hue and winter interest. They are a very stately tree, forming a pyramidal shape with horizontal branching. This Rocky Mountain native is recognized by its stiff, short blue-green needles that surround the branches. In maturity, grey bark can be furrowed and small, conical brown cones will form in the upper canopies.
